It's Managment Time
Hey everyone it’s TT again! Back with some new stuff to show!

Full transparency we all have day jobs so really it’s only had like 2-3 days of work!
Everything we’re showing off is super early and nothing is set in stone yet!
We’re still fleshing out ideas, , so some things may change a bunch before release, so keep that in mind!
Time Management
First I’ll chat about one of the big changes, time management. Previously you would select a kin and choose to chat with them to pick activities. Now there’s more of a focus on doing different kinds of research, as well as maintaining the facility and then the general well being of the kin.
Every day there are 3 time segments, morning/afternoon/evening, and you can assign the kin to do work, or chores during those times. If you don’t assign a kin to do anything than you give them free-time.
I’ll go into more detail on the various types of work, and chores at some point, but for now the idea is that:
- “Work” is what gets you research points, and funding.
- “Chores” is needed to upkeep the facilities.
- “Free-Time” is needed to maintain kin energy and happiness.
You’ll need to balance these in order to maximize the speed at which you gain Research Points!
Once you’ve assigned the kin to do jobs, you can start the day
The Lab
Another change is how you interact with kin! The lab has been buffed into a fully fledged research campus! Once the day starts you’ll be able to walk around the lab, and see all the kin at their daily assignments.
You can talk to them, and you can get a gauge on how they are doing and if they like/hate the assignment.
You can also get the opportunity to interrupt them for that time slot and hang out with them instead. Spending time with them is how you advance the individual character stories, gain affection, reputation, and most importantly get spicy with the kin!

That’s it for now, we think these changes will be fun additions, they give a lot of new opportunities for character scenes and events, and have there more to do with the kin.
There’s a lot more to all the changes, next week I’ll talk more about Research Points, and more detailed changes to progression with funding and such.

Love these ideas, and honetly what I thought I was gonna get when I first downloaded the game. Very very excited to assign the kins to work in the most efficient way possible just like their room configuration

As nice as the Lobotomy Corp inspiration of the previous game was I'm liking how this new direction is going.

do we still get the chance to interact with them in their unique rooms?
I’ll be talking about that later, some things about the dorms will change but yes they still have their own rooms.
Loving the time management system, but the navigation looks kinda slow...? Otherwise its giving me Persona vibes, which is a system that I think really works for relationship building RPGs. What would the happiness decay rate look like? How often would we be needing to send the women for free time/breaks, do you think? Would interrupting them while on a break have any negative effect? Or would the free time still count as free time if they hang out with the player?
Keen to see how this develops!
Yeah the value I picked for the speed arbitrarily set to “5” and chosen entirely before there were even sprites in the scene so I also saw it was slow haha. There will probably be a sprint or something, as well as we’ve discussed having a map and letting you teleport to fixed places on the map.
The a lot of inspiration definitely came from Persona, I’m a big fan of 3/4, the initial idea came from Danganronpa, which also has a “3 characters per day” kind of setup, the 3 started as arbitrary then kinda fit as we tied it to time management(morning/afternoon/evening).
The happiness decay will ultimately depend on the work chosen, based on how much the kin likes or dislikes the work, but technically Just because they’re unhappy doesn’t mean you can’t assign them work. But for clarity playing as ‘expected’ trying to be as efficient as possible It’d probably between a 2:1 or 4:1 ratio, they need to roughly break once a day or once every other day, but again breaks aren’t mandatory.
As for interruptions, generally any hang out will forgo any benefits or drawbacks to the assignment chosen, if they have a scene and you hang out with them the scene will have choices and those become the bonuses like increasing affection(the stat that lets you have sex with them), or increasing/unlocking a stat/skill or something.
So hanging out with someone on free time probably won’t give the standard energy/happiness recovery but based on the choices may as an example, increase happiness 3x more than a normal free time. This is something that could change, but for now, the plan is interruptions would skip any assignment entirely.
